# Referrals and Affiliates

New! Brands can now launch their own referral program. How does it work? Customers and affiliates share their unique referral link to earn rewards when new customers sign up

While the default settings will be best suited for most, you have the option to customize your Referral program settings however you like, for example define the Affiliate Commission earn rate and affiliate discount value

Shopwaive's powerful referral and affiliate program allows you to easily set up affiliate commission with the Shopwaive <mark style="color:blue;">**Earn commission**</mark> action available in Shopify Flow. Just simply connect the <mark style="color:blue;">**Earn commission**</mark> action to the <mark style="color:blue;">**Order created**</mark> trigger, and you're set! In the action's <mark style="color:blue;">**Resource gid**</mark> field, add the order's id from the <mark style="color:blue;">**Order created**</mark> trigger, for example `{{order.id}}`.

## Referral orders

When new potential customers visit your site and make a purchase with an affiliates' unique discount code or referral link; the affiliate receives commission at a fixed percentage of the sale value after discounts. If an order is cancelled or refunded, you can use Shopwaive's reversal actions like <mark style="color:blue;">**Void deposits**</mark> and <mark style="color:blue;">**Refund balance**</mark> to reverse the earned and/or redeemed credit.

With Shopwaive's New customer accounts app extension, each affiliate gets a dedicated Affiliate and Commission dashboard that provides all of their metrics, referral link, and unique discount code.

Making changes to your desired commission structure is easy and simple. In the Shopwaive app, open <mark style="color:blue;">**Settings**</mark> and the <mark style="color:blue;">**Referrals**</mark> tab. With the Referral Program switched on, go to <mark style="color:blue;">**Commission Structure**</mark>, set <mark style="color:blue;">**Commission structure**</mark> (the share of each sale, after discounts, that the affiliate earns) and <mark style="color:blue;">**Referral coupon**</mark> (the percent off the referred customer gets), then click <mark style="color:blue;">**Save**</mark>.

A particularly powerful aspect of Shopwaive's Affiliate and Referral program is that it connects with all other Shopwaive touchpoints, like [Checkout extensions](/shopify/checkout-extensions.md), [Shopify POS](/shopify/shopify-pos.md), [Upsells](/shopify/upsells.md) and more. This means affiliates can redeem their commission on merchandise, online or in store

## Referral signups

Each of your customers and affiliates are assigned a unique referral link; if new customers sign up using their link you can select to reward one or both parties from the Referral program settings shown below. You can even choose to expire the reward after a given amount of time or select to never expire.

Next, enter a description of the reward, or you can leave this blank. You can use the <mark style="color:blue;">`{{credit}}`</mark> merge tag to place the amount of the reward anywhere in the description text.

Referral sign ups are tracked on your store's <mark style="color:blue;">**/account/register**</mark> page by default. If your customers sign up on a different page, contact <support@shopwaive.com>.

Finally, just click Save. Now your Referral program is live and customers and affiliates can start earning rewards on each referral.

After turning on the Referral program, developers can use the [GET Customer API endpoint](https://api.shopwaive.com/reference/rest-api-documentation/customer-api#get-customer-endpoint) to fetch the unique referral links of customers and affiliates and display them on their account page or in email notifications, for example
